We recently took instructions from an old age pensioner, who was walking through the streets of Manchester and tripped over wires sticking up out of the pavement.
On closer inspection, the wires turned out to be the remains of reinforced concrete left behind when a bollard was removed. He sustained serious injury to his ribs and a chest infection.
We were able to facilitate compensation from the Council for his injuries.
So if you trip in the street because the Council have not properly removed street furniture, then you can claim compensation.
The Council have a legal obligation to repair, maintain, and inspect all of the highways. If they fail to do so, and you are caused injury as a result, then you are entitled to damages.
